Colin Campbell Cooper, an American Impressionist painter was born today, March 8, 1856. He was most known for architectural paintings of skyscrapers in New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago. He and his wife were aboard the RMS Carpathia during the rescue mission for survivors of the sunken RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. He created several paintings to document the rescue operation. He and his wife also gave up their cabin so the survivors would have a place to sleep.
